July 8 – 15
We will be spending a week in Washington D.C., working with an organization called The Pilgrimage, which is a ministry founded by the Church of the Pilgrims (a PCUSA church). While in D.C., we will immerse ourselves in the ‘unseen’ side of the city by volunteering in food banks, soup kitchens, and shelters. In our spare time, we will also be able to experience D.C.’s rich historic culture through sightseeing of monuments, memorials, and museums. Throughout the week, we will spend our mornings completing service projects and our afternoons enriching our understanding of poverty’s complex presence in our communities, while learning about urban poverty in America. We will spend time reflecting on how the Christian faith informs how we think about and engage in politics.
